How do I download a map to play in Warcraft 3? When you find a map you want to download, press the Download link. Your web browser will ask you if you want to open or save the map file. You must Save the file to the Warcraft 3 downloaded maps folder on your computer. Warcraft 3 version 1.28 and later (Including Reforged) For modern Warcraft installations, you should save the map in C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Warcraft III\Maps Warcraft 3 version 1.27b and older For older Warcraft installations, you should save the map in C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Maps\Download After the map file finishes downloading, it should be available in your list of downloaded maps when you start Warcraft 3. |
Why do some maps malfunction when I try to open them in World Editor? Some map authors have 'protected' certain maps so that no one can easily copy the map or steal any ideas. This 'protecting' actually involves damaging the map file so that the World Editor cannot open the file but the normal Warcraft 3 game still can. Unfortunately, it's very hard to fix a 'protected' map so that it works in World Editor, and it's also very hard to find unprotected versions of 'protected' maps. You may search for help on your own but please do not ask for help with opening a 'protected' map. |
Why don't map creators make more maps with AI? Artifical Intelligence (AI) can be very complex and very hard to create. To make a truly "smart" AI, you would need many complex AI scripts which take a a very long time to write and a bit of computing power to run. Thus many map authors do not create AI because it would either take too much time to make or it would cause some slower computers to lag when running the map. |
I'm a map developer and one of my uploaded maps needs to be removed or edited. How can I do this? If you need any of your maps changed or removed, use the "Report This Map" link. Make sure you clearly describe anything you want changed and leave an e-mail address or another form of contact in the message. If we cannot determine if you are the real author, we may contact you to obtain proof to prevent anyone else from requesting changes to your map. |
Can I upload Warcraft 3 Campaigns (W3N) to Epic War? The map system on Epic War does not support campaigns yet, but it may in the future. |
When I upload a new map, why are some of the details missing? Certain map protection programs alter the map file in ways that make it harder to read the map information. Because of this, the system Epic War uses occasionally has trouble reading information from such maps. This will hopefully be resolved soon; until then, you may leave a report on any maps with missing info and a site administrator can manually fill in what is missing. |
